In 2012, Sweden made its first family planning commitment by pledging to spend US$40 million per year on contraceptives and increase its annual contribution of US$450 million to MDGs 4 and 5. In 2017, the government of Sweden revitalized its family planning commitment, increasing its global sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) support by an additional US$24 million.
