The government of Norway made a commitment to family planning at the London Summit on Family Planning in July 11, 2012.

This commitment aimed to increase investment in family planning initiatives and support the goals of the Family Planning 2020 (FP2020) initiative. Norway pledged to double its investment in family planning from US $25 million to US $50 million over eight years.

In 2017, Norway renewed its commitment, pledging to increase its core contribution to UNFPA by 25 percent, up to NOK500 million per year.
