The House of Representatives has unanimously passed the Safe Motherhood and Reproductive Health Rights Bill, 2075 BS Friday.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav had presented a proposal seeking passage of the bill in the meeting of the lower house of the Federal Parliament Friday.

Prior to this, Minister Yadav had presented a proposal seeking deliberations on Safe Motherhood and Reproductive Health Rights Bill 2075 BS along with the report of the Education and Health Committee of the parliament.

Lawmakers Prem Suwal and Durga Poudel took part in the discussions on the proposal. They demanded that the mother should have the abortion right, drawing the government’s attention to make clear about the provision in the bill which is related to granting one year’s unpaid leave to new mother.

The lower house also unanimously passed the proposal on incorporating the amendment by the committee to Clauses 1 to 12 of the bill. The clause 2 to 37 of the bill, its name and preamble have also been approved unopposed.
