As a global organisation representing 143 Midwifery Associations and advocating on behalf of over one million midwives worldwide, the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) calls on all governments to uphold the human rights of all women and their families to quality and respectful midwifery care. The consequences of the dramatic fire in the Mória Refugee Camp, is yet another example of the breach of the human rights of refugees globally and specifically those of pregnant women and children. Described by Human Rights Watch as an ‘open air prison’, the human tragedy taking place in Mória, is everyone’s business!
