The country's government has prioritized family planning efforts and aims to increase access to modern contraceptives and reproductive health services.

Côte d'Ivoire's national family planning strategy includes a range of activities to promote family planning, such as training healthcare providers, improving the supply chain for contraceptives, and increasing community engagement. The government has also worked to increase funding for family planning programs and to integrate family planning services into other healthcare services.

The country’s leaders envision a Côte d’Ivoire where every couple and family has free access to quality family planning services that respect sexual and reproductive rights to support the growth and sustainable development of countries by 2030.

Côte d’Ivoire Commitment Objectives

  • By 2025, allocate each year an amount of two billion five hundred million (2,500,000,000 FCFA) to the Ministry in charge of the supply of Family Planning products and inputs (purchase, storage, and distribution of contraceptive products and strategic inputs to the last mile).
  • Make effective free family planning for adolescents and young people in all public and community health establishments.
  • Increase the availability of contraceptive commodities in the last three months before the day of the survey to 90% at service delivery points by the end of 2025.
  • Increase modern contraceptive prevalence among all women from 22.5% in 2020 to 30% in 2030.
