The Self-Care Trailblazer Group (SCTG) is a global multistakeholder coalition dedicated to expanding the safe and effective practice of self-care so that individuals can better manage their own health, health outcomes are improved, and health systems are better equipped to achieve universal health coverage.
SCTG offers women and girls, adolescents and young people, rural populations, members of the LGBTQIA community, those in humanitarian settings, and other underserved populations an opportunity to access contraception and other sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) products and services in an accessible, equitable, and user-friendly manner.
Commitments made to:
The SCTG supports FP2030’s guiding principles of country-led partnerships, voluntary, person-centered, rights-based approaches to contraception, a commitment to gender equity, and equitable partnerships with adolescents, youths, and marginalized populations.

Self-Care Trailblazer Group (SCTG) Commitment Narratives
- The SCTG aims to increase its membership by 10% annually. These members will actively advocate, as part of the coalition, for the integration of self-care Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) products and services into primary healthcare packages and Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Additionally, they will strive for the inclusion of self-care SRHR in regional and global resolutions, guidelines, and health financing priorities, thus fostering a more inclusive, equitable, and people-centered approach to SRHR services.
- The SCTG will collaborate with major global health provider associations to ensure that their member outreach and education efforts emphasize the critical role of self-care products for contraception and SRHR. The coalition aims to achieve this objective by the end of 2030. Specifically, the SCTG plans to sign three memorandums of understanding with provider associations to formalize this commitment.
- The SCTG will leverage its National Self-Care Networks to drive policy changes and review existing policies and financing schemes. The objective is to enhance access to self-care products and approaches, including contraception and SRHR, in up to ten countries by 2030.
- The SCTG will engage influential stakeholders and decision-makers, such as the United Nations, regional bodies, multilateral organizations, funding organizations, and donor agencies. The goal is to raise political awareness and garner support for self-care for SRHR products and approaches. The coalition aims to secure increased commitments and financial support from these entities by 2030.
- The SCTG will utilize the collective power of the coalition to advocate for quality, evidence-based self-care. The objective is to build awareness and gain support from global, regional, national, and subnational self-care implementers, influencers, policymakers, and potential opposition by 2030.
