The Latin American and Caribbean Women’s Health Network (RSMLAC) is a third-level feminist organization that, through research, political advocacy, popular education, and strategic communication, promotes the health and overall well-being of women in the region.
Commitments made to:
Currently, RSMLAC is the oldest feminist network in the region, with the primary goal of strengthening the political coordination capacity of Latin American and Caribbean feminism. To achieve this, it aims to:
- Defend the human rights of women in the region, particularly sexual and reproductive rights, as well as the right to comprehensive health.
- Advocate for the universality and equity of the right to health and for health policies that address women’s needs.
- Affirm women’s citizenship and their rights over their bodies and the territories they inhabit.
- Commit to the prevention and eradication of violence against women and gender-based violence. – Respect and value diversity, opposing all forms of discrimination.
These goals will be achieved through:
- The implementation of a multi-level advocacy agenda that brings visibility to the agendas and issues of women in the region within multilateral spaces.
- The development of a strategic communication plan that, in addition to strengthening our presence, generates pressure on various social and political sectors in the region and contributes to enhancing the communication capacities of RSMLAC’s affiliated and allied organizations.
- The creation of content and knowledge management to ensure that political advocacy processes are evidence-based, thus enhancing the political capabilities of RSMLAC’s affiliated and allied women.
- Strengthening partnerships with organizations and networks within and beyond the region, including the women’s health movement, United Nations System organizations, international cooperation agencies, other NGOs, academic groups, and specialists. These partnerships will help develop tools to monitor the implementation of international agreements, amplify women’s voices and demands at national and international levels, and sustain governmental progress materialized in laws, decrees, and institutions that promote and protect women’s rights.
