Lindex participated in the We Women Management Project, which aims to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in the garment industry in Bangladesh.
The project focuses on improving working conditions and opportunities for women employed in Lindex factories. Lindex has been involved in implementing commitments to the Global Strategy on Women’s, Children’s, and Adolescent Health.

Vision
In 2017, Lindex, a Swedish fashion chain, committed to partnering with GIZ, a German development agency, and Business for Social Responsibility (BSR), and launching WE WOMEN, a 3-year program providing technical, financial, and health training (including family planning information) to 83,500 workers, including the more than 50,000 women in their supply chain in Bangladesh.
Lindex Commitment Narratives
- Develop and implement gender action plans in Lindex factories to promote gender equality.
- Conduct training for Lindex factories to improve working conditions and opportunities for women.
- Collaborate with GIZ and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the We Women Management Project.
- Engage in community outreach and promote community engagement in the project.
- Contribute to the resilience of the health system by addressing women’s, children’s, and adolescents’ health needs.
- Uphold sexual and reproductive health and rights within the project.
- Facilitate end-line assessments conducted by a service provider contracted and funded by GIZ.
- Include all 31 factories in Bangladesh and impact approximately 46,000 women through the project.
- Align commitment-related objectives and targets with national health strategies, where applicable.
- Maintain financial commitments from 2019 to 2020 without any changes.
- Maintain non-financial (in-kind) commitments from 2019 to 2020 without any changes.
- Appoint Ingrid Porss as the point of contact for Lindex’s commitment progress.
