Finland is committed to promoting family planning and reproductive health worldwide.
Through partnerships and advocacy, Finland strives to improve access to contraception, empower women and girls, strengthen health systems, and ensure sustainable financing for family planning programs.
Commitments made to:
In 2017, Finland committed an additional EUR21.3 million to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). The Finnish Minister for Foreign Trade and Development also pledged an additional EUR20 million for She Decides, a global movement to promote, provide, and protect the rights of women and girls.
Finland Commitment Objectives

- Focuses on empowering women and girls by promoting their reproductive rights, ensuring their participation in decision-making processes, and addressing gender inequalities.
- Supports efforts to strengthen health systems to provide quality family planning services, including training healthcare providers and improving supply chains for contraceptives.
- Actively advocates for family planning at international forums, influencing policies and strategies that prioritize reproductive health and rights.
- Promotes sustainable financing models for family planning, engaging domestic resources, private sector partnerships, and philanthropic organizations.
- Emphasizes the importance of data collection and monitoring to inform evidence-based decision-making and ensure transparency and accountability in family planning programs.
- Collaborates with governments, civil society organizations, multilateral institutions, and the private sector to maximize the impact of family planning efforts globally through knowledge sharing, capacity building, and coordination.
