Ethiopia is a committed member of the global family planning movement and has made significant progress in expanding access to family planning services over the past decade.
Ethiopia has also prioritized adolescent and youth-friendly family planning services, recognizing the importance of reaching young people with information and services to prevent unintended pregnancies and promote healthy reproductive behaviors. The country has implemented a national youth reproductive health strategy and has established youth-friendly service corners in health facilities to provide confidential and accessible services to young people.

Ethiopia Commitment Objectives
- The Ethiopian government will proportionally increase financing of family planning services, by continuing to earmark funds from its treasury and sustainable development goals (SDG) pool fund; and track the financing for family planning using the Ethiopian National Health Account.
- The government of Ethiopia committed to increase the “no stockout” status of at least three modern contraceptive methods from 63% to 90%.
- The government of Ethiopia committed to reduce teenage pregnancy among
adolescent girls from 13% to 7% by 2025 and 3%. - Ensure the availability of quality and safe family planning information and services to decrease the unmet need for family planning from 22% to 17%.
