Vision
Bloomberg Philanthropies committed US$50 million to family planning in 2012 and pledged to continue working to improve maternal and child health in some of the world’s poorest regions. Bloomberg Philanthropies is committed to integrating family planning services with obstetric care.
Bloomberg Philanthropies Commitment Objectives
- Increase access to quality reproductive health services for women and girls.
- Reduce maternal mortality rates, particularly in developing countries.
- Address barriers to contraceptive use, including lack of information, supplies, and services.
- Advocate for reproductive health rights and policies
- Raise awareness about the benefits of contraception and dispel misconceptions.
- Improve infrastructure and facilities to provide comprehensive emergency obstetric care, family planning, and post-abortion care.
- Target dispensaries for the provision of family planning and post-abortion care services.
- Support skilled birth attendance in selected health facilities.
- Conduct mass media campaigns to generate demand for reproductive health services.
- Recruit and train community health workers to educate communities on birth planning, complications during delivery, and family planning.
