Afghanistan has finalized its Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent (RMNCAH) strategy and the Costed Implementation Plan (2018-2022) for family planning.
The country has expanded access to family planning services, improved contraceptive choice, and engaged with religious leaders, youth, and civil society. Strong political will is demonstrated through multiple family planning committees.

Vision
The government of Afghanistan commits to reducing unmet needs for family planning by 10 percent by 2020 and increasing the modern contraceptive prevalence rate to 30 percent by 2020.
