Advocacy for Peace and Development

Advocacy for Peace and Development (APD) is a non-profit organization based in South Sudan that focuses on promoting human rights, advocating for conflict resolution, promoting gender equality, and building the capacity of local communities to participate in peacebuilding and development activities.

The organization aims to provide support to communities affected by conflicts and to strengthen their resilience to future conflicts. It also promotes accountability and transparency in governance to ensure that government institutions serve the needs of the people.

APD will provide 91 women and girls in the first quarter of 2022 with rights-based family planning services including education. By 2026, in line with South Sudan national health Ministry strategy, they plan to expand these services to 258, 241 women and girls.

Advocacy for Peace and Development Commitment Narratives

  • 171,631 women and girls in Central Equatoria state are being educated on Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) and women’s rights.
  • The Advocacy for Peace and Development (APD) organization plans to provide 91 women and girls with rights-based family planning services in Q1 2022 and expand to 258,241 women and girls by 2026.
  • The organization aims to provide comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) for adolescent girls in Eastern Equatoria, Central Equatoria, and Western Equatoria, in coalition with Community Development Support Services and St. Monica Advocacy for Peace and Development.
  • By 2026, the organization hopes to have built government and community-based support to change the current policy and establish pilot CSE programs in the three states of Equatoria region.
  • South Sudan’s newly developed National Sexual Reproductive Health Policy and Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health strategy provide a supportive policy environment to accelerate efforts to provide Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services and CSE for young people.
