Dr. Martin Migombano has been the Country Director for MSI Reproductive Choices in Mali since 2019, where he has been leading MSI operations in a volatile and restrictive country, ensuring that the country delivers on its mandate of providing women with sexual and reproductive health services regardless of the political environment.

Before MSI, Martin worked in various international organizations at the national and regional levels. He worked as a regional Advisor for IPPF Africa in multiple capacities in charge of portfolios such as the humanitarian response, FP, and managing regional restricted projects.

For the past 20 years, I have spent my time working to ensure women access contraceptives regardless of their status or location and preventing unwanted pregnancies for the vulnerable, such as young people, refugees and IDPs, people living with disability, and so on, in the African region, working with government representatives, NGOs, local organizations, and donors.

I am delighted to join the FP2030 NCWA Hub in its mission of combining synergy towards an environment where women full of potential play a critical role in their community by making a self-decision to use contraceptives. FP is a critical component that countries should endorse for their development. In the majority of the country in West and Central Africa, women are the engine that drives small businesses. Access to contraception will give them room for self-esteem and time to develop as influential members of the community.

He has a degree in medicine from the Universite Catholique de Bukavu, a master’s degree in public health from Manchester Metropolitan University, and a Postgraduate degree in leadership from Deakin University in Australia.
