Building on the successes and lessons witnessed in the last nine years, the FP2030 partnership aims to be stronger and more inclusive. In 2019, a youth arm in the partnership was established. In East Africa, youth focal points were identified and have been instrumental in the re-commitment process, introducing a youth-centric approach to family planning and reproductive health in the region.

The FP2030 partnership aims at driving data-informed decision making, emphasizing the importance of transforming social and gender norms, improving system responsiveness to individual rights and needs, expanding the narrative and shaping the policy agenda around family planning, and increasing, diversifying, and efficiently using financing.

This first session of a two-part social media dialogue with the FP2030 East Africa Youth Focal Points presented an opportunity to:

  • To deliberate and share best practices across the region in regard to the FP2030 re-commitment process
  • To harmonize and compare country commitments speaking to young people’s SRHR needs within the region.
  • To unpack the  implementation plan for the FP2030 commitments within the region by Youth Focal points
