PLAPERTS, the Latin American Platform of People who Exercise Sex Work, is committed to empowering 120 leader-activists across Latin America through a comprehensive sexual education and family planning program. This initiative aims to strengthen their knowledge and skills so they can effectively disseminate information within their communities, promoting sexual and reproductive health sustainably.
Currently, sex workers in Latin America face significant lack of access to adequate sexual education and family planning. Surveys show that only 25% have access to accurate information and necessary resources for optimal sexual and reproductive health.
Commitments made to:
By June 2026, at least 70% of the 120 trained leader-activists will have replicated the training in their communities. Additionally, a 50% increase in access to sexual and reproductive health services is expected among the communities served by these leaders.
Directly, 120 leader-activists will participate in the training program. Indirectly, it is expected that the information and skills acquired by these leaders.
PLAPERTS will continue collaborating with local organizations, governments, and other entities to ensure the success of this commitment and improve the health and well- being of sex workers in Latin America.
PLAPERTS Commitment Narratives
- Train 120 leader-activists over the next two years, with at least 60 participants completing the program by the end of the first year. Measure impact through surveys and tracking replicated activities in their communities.
- By June 2026, at least 70% of the 120 trained leader-activists will have replicated the training in their communities, with information on sexual health and family planning.
