Currently in rural areas of Colombia, there is a notable lack of information and education on sexual and reproductive health, exacerbated by deeply rooted myths and taboos. Communication on these issues between people in different age groups is scarce, contributing to the persistence of problems such as unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. This situation is aggravated by the lack of access to adequate health services.

Asumir is committed to comprehensive human development, in each of its dimensions, one of which is sexual and reproductive health. We do so through approaches of joint management, territorial management and sustainable development. In the face of the challenges of public policy on sexual and reproductive health we have adopted a processes and pedagogical approach based on the training of trainers and the generation of capacities and opportunities for populations. We recognize the possibility of generating, by 2025, spaces for the transformation of myths and taboos, and reducing the existing communication gap at the family and intergenerational level, especially in rural areas with vulnerable populations in Colombia.

Specifically, we intend to work with 100 women leaders and their families, so that they multiply knowledge and are trainers of future generations.

vision Vision

We will adopt a training of trainers approach, which has proven to be effective in multiplying knowledge and generating sustainable change in communities. We have a team of experts in sexual and reproductive health, and we have the support of local organizations, which will allow us to achieve our objectives effectively. Our commitment is realistic given the context and available resources. We have identified specific communities where there is an urgent need for intervention and where we have the support of community leaders and local organizations. In addition, our goals are aligned with public policies and national efforts in sexual and reproductive health.

The main expected outcome of our commitment is the creation of a network of empowered and well-informed women leaders who can educate their communities about sexual and reproductive health (100 women). This will improve knowledge and practices related to this topic, contribute to the reduction of unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, and promote more open and effective communication on these topics within families and across generations.
