Vihara, in partnership with Jhpiego NISHTHA is setting up Learning Labs in Meghalaya to deploy innovative tools and techniques to increase the uptake of family planning services amongst young and low parity couples in their region.

Vihara Innovation Network Commitment Narratives

  • Set up Learning Labs in Meghalaya to deploy innovative tools and techniques for increasing the uptake of Family Planning services among young and low parity couples.
  • Collaborate with health and wellness centers in Meghalaya to reach eligible young couples and provide targeted counseling and awareness generation for family planning products and services.
  • Build the capacity of 60 Community Health Officers (CHOs), 100 Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), and over 250 Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) to enhance their knowledge and skills in family planning.
  • Increase the uptake of Family Planning products by 30% within two districts of Meghalaya.
  • Establish strategic collaborations to reach out to adolescents, boys, girls, young men, and women in over 400-500 villages by 2024.
  • Utilize the GOC (Game of Choice, not Chance) virtual game to provide sexual health knowledge and empower young adolescent girls and boys in making informed choices regarding their reproductive health.
  • Expand the network of collaborators, engage in knowledge sharing, and explore synergies with potential partners in the areas of Gender and Health, Family Planning, Tuberculosis, and Mental Health.
