Call for Consultant: Public Relations

FP2030 is looking for proposals and estimates from public relations firms to support the launch of our annual Progress Report at the International Family Planning Conference, November 14 to 17 in Pattaya, Thailand.

Firms considered for this work should have a proven track record of obtaining widespread media coverage of global reports in national, regional, and country press outlets. Proposals should demonstrate that the firm has designed and implemented global and regional media launches of major reports with resulting press coverage, and has a strong understanding of translating nuanced and complex data concepts for broader audiences.

The selected firm will produce a media outreach strategy and workplan, in consultation with FP2030 staff, for media pitches, op-ed and blog placements, as well as creation of targeted press lists.

The firm is expected to do the following:

  1. Develop a media outreach strategy that will take into account the diversity of audiences for the report as well as the breadth of geographic diversity in the report. The strategy should include both global and country-specific outreach, and the need for tailored materials for a variety of country audiences. The strategy should guide FP2030 staff by presenting key themes from the report that are most likely to interest journalists as well as topline messaging.
  2. Develop a comprehensive media list that includes print, electronic, and online journalists and outlets at the global and country levels as well as a list of specific family planning writers who may attend the conference in Thailand.
  3. Provide assistance with turning key report messages into soundbites, sample tough Q&As, and journalist-friendly messages.
  4. Manage all media outreach for the report including any buzz-creating stories in advance of the November launch, placing blogs and/or op-eds in conjunction with the launch, writing and distributing all press materials, lining up interviews, and fielding all requests from reporters.
  5. Create a follow-up report that includes all press clips and analysis of media coverage as well as advice for future launch effectiveness.

Request for Proposals: FP2030 at ICFP Video Project

Since the first ICFP in Kampala, Uganda in 2009, the International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) has served as a strategic inflection point for the global reproductive health community, providing a global stage for countries, organizations, and individuals to make important commitments and celebrate achievements as the world’s largest scientific conference on family planning and reproductive health.

ICFP has become much more than a conference – it has grown into a platform for researchers, advocates, governments and communities; a movement towards achieving access to family planning for all; and a growing community guided by the spirit of partnership, inclusivity, innovation and scientific rigor.

As the larger family planning community looks “beyond 2020” to realign our goals and reposition for the future of family planning, ICFP 2022 will be a strategic benchmark as the community prepares to recommit to a goal of universal access by 2030.

Project summary

  • FP2030 is hosting one of four major plenaries at ICFP. The event will feature two panels, and we’d like to include four videos to break up the panel discussions and keep the audience engaged. The content of the videos is still to be determined, but our plenary is shaping up:
  • The session will consist of two panels and will also spotlight new commitments to the partnership. The first panel will focus on reintroducing the partnership with the new approach, regional hub structure, and clearly define where the Support Network is headed.
  • The second panel will be thematic and could focus on the following themes:
  • shifting power in global partnerships and accountability (e.g., localization & decolonization)
  • resilience of the family planning community and our preparedness for future issues;
  • the impact of COVID-19 on family planning over the next 10 years, as well as the impact on youth;
  • youth in family planning;
  • placing a gender lens on family planning.
  • It would be helpful if the selected vendor can help brainstorm video content to help this session flow seamlessly and stay engaging.

Key Deliverables

  • Producing approximately four 5-minute videos showcasing the value of FP2030 and rights-based family planning more broadly. The exact number and length of the videos will likely change as content is decided.
  • These videos could include B-roll, from either our partners or the vendor, animations, and other effects.
  • We would need final files by early November. The files would need to be delivered in the format needed by the ICFP AV team.

Deadline for applications is August 19, 2022.

Please send a brief (1-2 page) proposal outlining how you would recommend approaching this work—including  cost estimates — to echadband@fp2030.org

FP2030 values equity-centered leadership and commits to furthering our values and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) through our partnerships. We encourage proposals from organizations led by women, youth, minorities, persons living with disabilities, and persons living with HIV. We are interested in hearing how vendors are advancing DEI principals in their own work as part of their proposal package.
