As part of this commitment, Australia pledged to allocate an additional AUD 58 million over a span of five years to family planning efforts. The aim was to double the annual contributions to AUD 53 million by 2016. This financial commitment was integrated into Australia's broader investments in maternal, reproductive, and child health, which totaled at least AUD 1.6 billion over a five-year period until 2015.

Australia made a commitment in 2012 to spend an additional AUD58 million over five years on family planning as part of its broader investments in maternal, reproductive, and child health. Since then, Australia has worked with partners to contribute to the Family Planning 2020 goal to enable 120 million more women and girls in the world’s poorest countries to use modern contraception by 2020.
